I uninstalled houdini using add/remove programs on windows 2000 pro. I selected remove all. The program removed and the even the program folder was removed.

However, when I rebooted I checked my system services and both the sesinetd and hserver services are still starting.

I am afraid to just delete the sesinetd.exe and hserver.exe files from the system32 directory.

how do I safely remove the hserver.exe and sesinetd.exe services and why did the complete software uninstallation leave them installed????

I went into the registry and manually removed the hkey_local_machine>system>current_control_set>services>houdinilicenseserver and houdiniserver keys.

Then deleted the herver.ini and hserver.exe and sesinetd.exe files. Then ran regclean and removed the regentries pointing the removed files. There were 2 entries.

Then rebooted and re-installed and when the installation was complete the server admin found the old licenses still installed!!!!

How the HELL do I completely remove the houdini license servers and all information in them so I can do a completely clean installation please??

If you right click on the service you want to stop it should show you the location and you can delete the files manually. For instance mine are located at C:\Program Files\SideFX\License Server
The documentation says that the license keys are located at C:\Windows\keys
