Hi folks

A question before I commit to buying the HD edition,

Are you limited to 1920x1080 for animation rendering or can you go below that as well ie 1024x768 or 500x500

thanks

1920x1080 is the upper limit. You can render at lower resolutions.

As well, you can go to the File menu and select Import. There is an option there to import geometry.

Hello,

Can Houdini Apprentice HD import an .Obj?
Because I couldn't find a way to import an .Obj file into the Houdini Apprentice version.

The File SOP is what you're looking for. It will read obj files. Please start a new topic if you'd like a more detailed explanation.

To chime in on the apprentice HD thread:
It's perfect for guys like me “starving” to work at a studio. And even once I do, I'll continue to buy HD license for personal work.

I just wish I had the $99! With the current economic and political situation my country (Venezuela) is going thru, and the fact that I got fired a month ago, it's kinda hard to apend $99. But I'll stick to learning Houdini with the regula Aprentice version. Soon I'll get a new job and will sure INVEST the money in the HD version.
To shut down Windows press the Start button. Crazy ain't it?

I hate replys like this

*****To be honest, I still don't get it Smile
Simply put, you get $8000 worth of software for $99 and you're not allowed to make money with it. Where is the problem?****

Look man. From what companys tell me in AIm and irc chat rooms let me give you a hint. If you want to learn Just learn software go google the program crack for it. Now some people have told me they use crack sofware to make money but then turn around and bought the program afterwards. If you want to like me just sit at home play with it and stuff for fun fine run a crack. But if your CMI vfx or what not and you use the program for what it was made for then yes buy it. The fact is IF you are useing Houdini then what ever project you are working on will give you enough money to buy it. Just choose your path.

The path of legitimate software is hard for me and many others that just want to have a cool program at home just to play around with and learn with no water marks. This is perfect for people that are not making movies but would like to take it home play with it learn it but not really make money off it. This is for US. Thats why i would say in the next 15 min or so I am going to place my order for HD. I won $50 of a Set for life lottery ticket so its only really $50 for me and it is damn worth it to have tech support and be able to say ok I bought this so lets sit down and learn/play with it. Its harder to do that when you just download your stuff off torrents just because. I am so happy they did this. That means more training because more people are going to buy this.

I don't get your point at all, but FYI be aware that you don't get support with the $99 Apprentice HD (and this is for a reason, as good support costs a lot of money which is paid by commercial users.)
