Hi,

Has anyone got the Maya (v8.5) camera to be exported into Houdini (b203) via FBX to see if everything lined up between the both? No matter what I did, it seems like something is still a little off…. Not sure what I did wrong.

gracias.

I think it's fixed.

I think what happened was that they had frozen the camera's transform and then animated on top of it. Hence the camera doesn't seems to be imported into Houdini properly. Also, Maya's camera should be set to “Horizontal” on the Fit Resolution Gate parameter. (I have no idea what this resolution gate is…)

I have just done a test from maya 2008 imported via fbx into houdini 9.1.210 seems to work fine , default settings for the maya camera and still rendered using MR. The file holds a Pshop file with the 2 frames. You could use it as a bench mark maybe for 8.5

I'm testing this out and the camera's rotation values when imported into Houdini are completely wrong…

Exporting from Maya 2008 with FBX Exporter 2006.11 (using defaults)
Importing to Houdini 9.1.124

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Carlos,
Carlos
Exporting from Maya 2008 with FBX Exporter 2006.11 (using defaults)
Importing to Houdini 9.1.124
9.1.124 had a known bug with camera orientation that has since been fixed. Try one of the latest builds of 9.1, that should fix the problem. It also adds a great deal - FBX importer in 9.1.124 is very, very old.
