converting File type

Can any one help me How to convert different 3 D file types and import them to houdini.

Houdini can import various geometry formats [sidefx.com] by default. If you are looking to export from max/maya/xsi, please export using FBX and you can import that too.

Please go to File > Import > Geometry… or Filmbox FBX… depending on the format you choose and let us know how it goes.

Thanks very much. Can you help how i can import 3d models from any websites built on Maya, 3dmax, or xsi etc. not using FBX format.

Unfortunately, Houdini doesn't import .3ds files but Wavefront (.obj) files are good.

Check out this thread [sidefx.com] for a discussion about converting .3ds files to FBX. The FBX Converter can be found here [usa.autodesk.com] after a quick search with Google.
