Dear All,

This is probably going to be one of those silly questions, but I'm experiencing problems when loading (complex) scenes I've created with Houdini 10 into Houdini 11. In particular, my problem comes from the strange situation where the $HIP variable is not changed after loading the file, so all assets that are in a folder relative to the .hip file (like $HIP/Assets/myAsset.obj) give me errors. The problem is solved when I save the model over the original one without changing anything (after searching for it from the Houdini installation path, as Houdini had no memory of the original location or filename), but now the $HIP is set. Then I can see my models. Problem is that, when I restart Houdini, and load the file again, the problem continues. I've tested it on

Houdini 11.0.446.9 on Windows XP 32 bits
Houdini 11.0.469 on MacOS X (Leopard)

best regards

dagush.-

On your Houdini session where it doesn't work, try manually removing the HIP environment variable, saving your .hip file, then restarting Houdini.

Hi!

thanks for the rally quick answer!
About it… I'm sorry… you mean using

Assets/myAsset.obj

instead of

$HIP/Assets/myAsset.obj

??

or is there a general way?

thanks!!

1. Open your .hip file in Houdini 11
2. From the main menu, choose Edit > Aliases and Variables
3. Switch to the Variables tab
4. Click on HIP and then delete the text for its value
5. Save your .hip file
6. Restart Houdini 11 with your .hip file

Great!!!

It worked!!!

It still gave me an error, but it was quickly solved by switching the visible node back and forth…

Thanks!!!
