Hi. It seems deadline will no longer be updated as of next month.
Our vfx degree will have you find something else.
We use houdini and pdg tops, Nuke and unreal.
Does anyone have recommendations. Best. Mark

You almost gave me a heart attack. If I may share the context for others: as I just learned, Deadline is entering maintenance mode [docs.thinkboxsoftware.com], which means it will not implement new features, but it will receive critial fixes and support. Farms will be able to work as usual for years going forward, from what I understand.
TBH, we never rely on Deadlines's new features. And their submitters are often forgotten and unmaintained to begin with. We're able to program our own features and plugins, so I think we're going to stick with Deadline. Their recommendation to transition to the cloud is suspicious, I'll admit.

their recommendation to transition to cloud is their business model. selling AWS compute time is where those sweet sweet bezos dollars are. the old local compute deadline just a loss leader to transition into selling you your infrastructure by the billable second.
in the meantime, long live the old deadline, it's awesome and you can always roll your own plugins.
cheers,
chrisg
