Hi everyone,
I’m working on a Vellum cloth setup in Houdini 20.5 and I’m running into a strange issue — as soon as the simulation starts, the cloth mesh explodes in all directions. I’ve already checked the scale, substeps, and constraints, but nothing seems to fix it.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Could it be related to rest length or collision thickness settings? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Why does my Vellum cloth explode after simulation starts?

An example file would be helpful. But possible issues are usually topology related and could be:
- Using collision geometry with changing topology, but without correct "v" attribute.
- Attach constraints bound to geometry of changing topology.
- Pin constraints encountering a mismatch between simulation geometry topology and pin target topology.
Those sort of things.
