Hi,
I decided to play around with the new Houdini 21 Live Simulation mode -- maybe try to transfer some Touch Designer concepts over -- and I am not getting any results.
I can't seem to find any documentation about it online and it seems to simply not work as expected. Am I wrong in thinking this is a feature that's just in alpha or something?
I created the simplest possible setup: point with an add SOP into a popnetwork (with randomized velocity on the popsource). I then enable the "Live Simulation" mode on the dopnet and press the live simulation button.
The "Live tick" parameter starts iterating upwards, however it is creating a new POPOBJECT on every tick, quickly filling up the memory (view image).
(and naturally the velocity remains the same for every iteration of the tick)
I am probably doing something catastrophically wrong. Is live simulation just for COPs or something?
Help me understand the new Live Simulation mode

You need to base the Pop Object's Creation Frame on the live tick instead of frame number.
- Set Creation Frame to ch("../continuouscook_tick")==0
- Enable Live Sim on the DOP net
- Make sure Live Tick is at zero
- Enable Live Nodes in your houdini session
- Do step 1 & 3 if you add other dop objects to the sim.
