Hello,
I have a macbook pro intel core 2 duo; 2.4ghz; 2mb ram; nvidia geforce 8600m gt - 256mb.
Through bootcamp, I installed ubuntu 7.10 64bits, which is working fine on my computer.
However everytime I open Houdini 64bits, it freezes the computer completely.
Any ideas of what might be?
Thanks in advance,
Tiago

It is likely the nvidia graphics driver. You may need to go back to an earlier version.

I would rather check if the nvidia drivers are installed. Ubuntu doesn't install them by default iirc (since it is proprietary stuff).

I run Unbuntu without any problems.I installed and used Envy which installed the correct drivers for me

Actually my nvidia driver wasn't properly installed. I used the one that came with ubuntu on the restricted drive manager and it didn't work properly. I also downloaded the latest driver from the nvidia website and it didn't work. I then used Envy (GUI) and it also didn't work.
Fortunetly the Envy text script worked perfectly (I was able to uninstall everything beforehand).
So Houdini is finally working. Thanks for your input!
