I am trying to animate a hand holding on an object. So I use bones for the hand so the hand could hold something but when i pose her arm the object (created in another gemetry) does not move. so i parent the goal of the arm with the object but then they still don't move together.

So I was wondering how would I go about in animating the hand so that the object is in her hand whenever I move the goal of the hand?

I don't see why simple parenting won't work. Is your arm goal and other object at the same level (ie. not in different subnets) ?

Try doing the Dynamic Parenting tutorial. It might give you some ideas. From the main Help page, choose User Guide Contents > Characters > Dynamic Parenting.

Than what is the difference between using Dynamic Parenting to parent the object and the bones vs just piping the output of the chain_goal to the input of the oject gemetry in the network editor?

Because whenever I move my chain_goal too far away from the hand, the oject is moved to where the goal of the hand is. The hand is not grabing the ojbect. Trying the two different way, both method seems to be the same to me.

With Dynamic Parenting, you can animate the relationship whereas with the other method, you can't.

My solution to the chain goal problem is to simply not animate it past the point where it starts detaching.
