im having trouble understanding the create attribute sop, for example if you create an point attribute of the number 4. How would you use it in the translate sop?

if you create a point attribute, you'll need to read it using the point expression to access it, see he is actually linked to the point and not the geometry itself.
If you don't want to use the expression, you can use a detail attribute and use it into the transform directly with the variable.
