Hello,

I am trying to make something that will “chip” the corners of a stone block. I am using VDB to try to achive this.

But I run into 2 problems (which you can see both in attached image and file).

First problem is, that I transfer color from some scatter points to a subdivided box, so I can create the Cd Attribute within VDB to “mask” my noise with, but that means the mask is very dependant on the resolution of the incomming geomtry, making it look not so good.

The 2nd problem is, that the noise and “deformation” of the edges of the box get this “folding” look in the middle which was the whole reason i switch to VDB from displacment of the mesh, I was hoping to get rid of that “center folding” because VDB is a volume and doesnt displace in the normal direction, but somehow I still get this folding.

Any ideas or suggestions ? I want the edges to look like wear and tear and/or chisled/chiped work has been done.

Well this is sort of a solution, using the VDB fracture, but I would very much like it to be based on some sort of noise function on the VDB instead of cutting geo.
