Hey ho! We're trying to nail this issue down right now but it seems like the latest Windows 10 insider preview update may be causing issues with people trying to run Houdini.
You may want to hold off on that update if you haven't installed it yet.
If you've recently installed a windows 10 insider update and now see this message when you run Houdini:
ERROR: Couldn't open resource file ‘resources’ - (no such file or directory)
You've probably hit the bug.
We're working on it. When we have a fix or workaround we'll let you know.
If you're on OSX or linux, move on - nothing to see here.

If you hit this issue you can revert to an earlier windows build as a temporary workaround.

What Insider build number are we talking about?

Today's daily build (15.5.539) fixed the problem and is now working again!

I was waiting for a little more internal testing before posting here, but yes, the newest Houdini 15.5 builds should once again work with the latest Windows Insider Preview builds (14388 and 14390). Thanks for the verification. Which Windows build are you running?

For me it's running perfectly with preview build 14390.

The Anniversary release is a few weeks away; and I'm happy that Edge will support extensions
