I've been running Houdini 15.5 and the initial 16 version on and off for quite some time now, I decided to install Houdini 16.600 to upgrade because of some console messages popping up that may or may not have been software related and now none of my houdini builds will open. They complain of OpenGL 3.3 fatal errors and needing to upgrade the software (OpenGL). I've updated the graphics card drivers, reinstalled, and restarted, and still nothing. None of the Houdini builds I have installed work?
Extremely odd. This is an i7, gtx970 with 4 or 6GB (I forget), and 32GB ram. I've been running Houdini for a long time. No idea why it would suddenly stop like this?
OpenGL 3.3 Fatal Error all of a sudden?

I think I experienced this kind of failure once. It was my nVidia drivers. Don't just update, try the clean install option. That fixed my system.
If you are using a mechanical hard drive for your system it may be the signs of eminent drive failure. Some files were corrupted, perhaps? On Windows you can schedule a drive test on next reboot.
If you have an SSD drive that is probably not the issue.

I've tried a reinstall of my graphics drivers, using the clean install option, and it is still a no go unfortunately. I didn't think it would work to be honest because like I say both Houdini versions were working beforehand.
I've also uninstalled and reinstalled all Houdini instances to no effect.
I'm very confused and stuck…
EDIT: I tried a reinstall of my graphics cards drivers again and now it is working. I don't understand why it didn't work the previous two times (once without an uninstallation). Sorry for any bother.
