Anyone knows if there is a place to get animated geo for testing? Basically I like to test stuff on animated run/dancing characters and I really don't want to have to animate create those animations. I've found a long time ago a tutorial on how to use mocap agents to achieve this but I don't seem to find it anymore
Enivob Check out some of the new mocaps built into the MocapBiped3 character that ships with Houdini.
Yes! They are awesome! I just started discovering crowds agents and they look fantastic! But I was hoping maybe find some dance mocap or something (I know maybe I am to picky)
MocapBiped1 has a skeleton that is compatible with BVH files from the Carnegie Mellon University [mocap.cs.cmu.edu]. So all you need to do is convert the BVH files to .bclip files, using mcbiovision [www.sidefx.com], and you can substitute the original mocap with an alternate mocap by linking in a new File node. Remember to unlock the asset first.
Here is a Windows BATch command I used in the conversion process. (adjust path to current Houdini version and your BVH)
I am attaching two .bclip files you can test with. One is the male dance pattern and the other is the female counterpart for the same salsa dance. This mocap does suffer from “shoulder scrunch” but you can offset those bones manually.
