Hi

Just upgraded to 17.5 and middle-mouse to branch off node isn't working, it just brings up the node info. It's not like I don't use that 10,000 times a day!

The docs are still saying it should be a thing but I can't find anywhere to set that behaviour in preferences.

Anyone else had the same problem? This is on windows.

The function of middle mouse on pips was changed to bring up the info window of each geometry stream on multiple outputs. There is no option to bring back the old behavior.

Ok,good to know.

I've always used branch by default and insert as the exception. I'm sure it won't take me too long to lose the muscle memory!

What's the quickest way to branch then? I can do alt-LMB-tab-select but that's a bit awkward and doesn't float the node.

Hey

I don’t remeber the exact behavior of a previous Houdini version, so sorry, if this is not what you’re after, but you can branch off with Shift + Enter (or Shift + MMB, but that’s a bit finicky, because the mouse cursor has to be within the bounds of the Tab box). With the node or the pip selected. Just to add to this, Shift + Enter with the last node (not the pip) in the chain selected will lay the node down, align it an move the display flag. Shift + Enter also works, if you have a wire between nodes selected.
Hope that helps

Hey Honza!

Actually, that's working pretty well for me - RMB to bring up the menu, shift-LMB To select a bunch of nodes, then shift-MMB to branch them all off, sweet!

Best,
Joe
