I'm having a debilitating issue where clicking to save renders/sims to disk in background is triggering the attached error, despite the file being saved. No amount of saving or saving a new copy helps. A bit of a show-stopping nightmare.
This doesn't happen with every scene file, but once it happens on a scene file, that scene will never save to background again. Doesn't matter if I save it as a new file. I can't figure out a pattern and it seems to be happening more and more.
I'm on the latest Indie version and have tried uninstalling/reinstalling Houdini and deleting my prefs. I've also tried on 3 different machines (a Mac and Windows mix) and the issue persists. On all machines this bug has occurred when starting from a brand new file (in other words, this isn't just one scene file causing this). Reached out to support, but the suggestion was to upgrade to the latest.
If anyone has solved this, would love to hear how!
Anyone else experiencing this Save in Background bug?

Not that I've added, unless one of the common nodes has it baked-in. I'm still learning, so my setups are very simple, I don't have any fancy tricks up my sleeve.

Are you sure you don't have some kind of a script that runs periodically or a callback whenever a file event occurs that could modify the file immediately after saving?

Same issue here. Houdini recooks networks immediately after saving when update is set to auto. Setting update to manual may solve this.
However, much more annoying is that I have in H18 hardly ever managed to save a cache in the background and not end up with empty files. No idea why this happens. Foreground works fine. Gave up with reporting this to support months ago. This is in FX as well as Indie.

I tried at least two builds of H18. Finally gave up and rolled back to H17.5. It always works perfectly in H17.5. I couldn't save it in the background even once in H18. I hope that the SideFX Team will manage to fix it soon. Fingers crossed
