Hi everyone!
I am working on a wood shelves animation. My issue is:
I have to model some punchcutted letters as shown in the photo (IMG_3974); I used boolean to do the emboss but now I would like to add some noise/variation to make it more real. How would you do that?
I tried mixing 2 noises on a Attribute VOP but without succes!
The second issue, as shown in the last picture emboss_lines.png, after the boolean, some extra lines appear and they are also visible when shading/rendering: how should I get rid of those?

Try converting the letter forms to SDF volumes, modulating the SDF using noise, and then converting back to polys.

These aren't ‘extra lines’ they're the supports of the face. Faces can't have holes in them, so they have to be shaped like a horseshoe that meets back on itself. These lines won't show up in shading if the normals were computed properly.
