Distance light is yellow. Environment light blue.

Volume fog can get properly lit up by distance light however not environment headlight. All becomes dark black under environment light. Why?

I am on ARM Houdini 19.5.337

If you dive inside the environment light, you'll see why. There is no geometry to emit light from, a NULL is the default.

However, if you supply geometry for the portal, you'll see once the light has geometry to project rays from, the viewport reflects this.

It renders fine, of course. Most people use the viewport as a reference rather than for final pixel. You could switch to using the /stage context for comprehensive lighting.

Thanks, Enivob, the solution works.

I suppose that still does not explain why the cubic gets lit up properly without supplying the portal with geometry?
