Same rendering time for 100% and 0.5% polygons in Mantra

There is a simple scene - model (2,820,810 primitives),background (1,296 primitives), environment light.
Render time on default settings in Mantra - 2 minutes 38 seconds

After applying polyreduce node for the main model, I have the following indicators:
model (11,282 primitives), background (1,296 primitives).
Render time on default settings in Mantra - 2 minutes 25 seconds

Could you tell me why such a significant decrease in the number of polygons from 100% to 0.5% did not change the render time so much?

My system:
Windows 11 Pro
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10300H CPU @ 2.50GHz
16Gb RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti with Max-Q Design 6Gb

Why would the number of polygons contribute to the render time?
