Final Destination V - Shot Replica
Sep 29, 2026
Replica of the bridge collapse sequence from Final Destination V, built around a RBD/rigid body destruction pipeline.
Destruction: mesh watertighting, fracturing and constraint setup drive the bridge collapse. Cars scattered across the bridge geometry are simulated with RBD, reacting dynamically to the collapsing structure.
Cables: simulated with Vellum, using attach geometry constraints that break based on a stress threshold.
Debris & Smoke: a debris source captures emission points across the destruction areas, driving a Pyro simulation for smoke; Copy to Points scatters debris geometry through the collapse.
Water: the river beneath the bridge is simulated with Ocean Spectrum.
Look Dev & Rendering: full look dev and final render in Karma XPU.
Compositing: done in Nuke, the Houdini camera was tracked to move the background plate, with roto used to isolate the Ocean Spectrum element.
