A sneak peak of an ongoing passion project I started in January. I used Houdini for the assembly, FX, surfacing, lighting and rendering.

Originally I tried rendering using Cycles in Blender, but it kept crashing due to the complexity of the scene. I ported everything to Houdini and rendered with Karma XPU, which was a new experience. Despite being a new renderer, Karma was fast and stable which made lookdev fun. The new subsurface feature was great for the flaps on the character and the hand pit.

I made everything in this trailer from scratch, except for the good looking artwork in the middle drawn by Ben Poate. I did the animation using a Rokoko Motion Capture Suit, with cleanup in Blender.

VFX Artist
Sydney | Australia

Hello! I'm a junior FX artist from Sydney, Australia. Since 2012 I've been addicted to After Effects, Photoshop and Blender, giving me a strong foundation in motion graphics. I completed a Bachelor of Computer Science last year. Since then I've used Houdini for the Masters of Animation and Visualisation at UTS Animal Logic Academy.
