You should download Houdini Apprentice, it's free! and let us know what you think.

I will try when I buy a new rig which would happen within a week or so. And for your second line, yes I should have considered that.

So to start, I'm interested in learning 3d modelling program but don't have any idea which one to start with ! I'd like design characters in 3d environment realistically primarily. Not keen on animating them though. This is what I want to focus on doing so ! I've above average drawing skills and would like to combine my skills within 3d visuals. So it would make more sense If there is one program that relies more into in-depth possibilities in artistry and organic looking rather than dealing with crunching numbers etc.
From the above you should look at tools like ZBrush, 3D Coat, Modo and the like that are well established in organic modeling. Good luck.

Edit: Be aware that 3D tools tend to be more technical than a brush or a pencil ;-)
Heard various opinions from numerous users that use these 3 programs, no wonder. Some say Zbrush' UI is so complex, some say despite Zbrush is more widely known 3D Coat was almost better in many way, by being more flexible, voxel based etc.

For good and all, the most important things would that learning curve to not to be too steep and products as outcome to be organic as much as it gets. (Although its related to user's skills at some point)

Not sure but would it be wise to pull of one particular one out of the 3, as which one of them fits me best in this case ? Or should i spend some time on all of them untill I can point out one so which could only happen after buying a new rig ? Or should I be using them transformational like Zbrush for sculpturing and 3DC for texture painting f.e ? (would prefer using and advancing in particular one that could handle all, though)

Edit: I read this at most recent time: http://3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14730 [3d-coat.com] (particularly Psmith's posts)
What would you say about this ?

Cheers.

Hello folks, I'm a total newbie that I've just registered, and before that read some titles that is related on and off about my search in 3d industry. I may have some most boring and generic questions that pop up every now and then, but in the end I had to

So in this case what my alternatives could ever be for a noob like me since I've no experience in this sector. I just want to be sure and wouldn't disappoint in X program after started learning for several months or so incase I'd waste my time in this constantly changing industry.

(Time is so precious for me especially from now on)

Thanks for reading and sorry if my thread is on wrong section of the board. Feel free to move to appropriate section please
