Contrasting outputs from render view and mplay July 26, 2013, 9:10 a.m.
For anybody interested had a look at work with a version 12.0.1 and it worked fine with exactly the same settings so reported this to sidefx!
I was using Houdini apprentice 12.5.46 and it wasn't changing in the render view whether preview was checked or not but I just installed 12.0.1 on my laptop at work and it works absolutely fine:
So this is now producing the blur and shadow softness from the depth map parameters

This is the default:

Where as before in 12.5.46 I wasn't getting the changes from the blur/softness being adjusted.

Contrasting outputs from render view and mplay July 25, 2013, 5:52 p.m.
Hi All,
Getting a different output when I use the render view and mplay, have clicked render on both and I believe the mplay output to be accurate as i've added shadow blur and softness but that is not appearing whatsoever on the render view render. I read in the forums a lot say that having preview on makes it go to raytrace but i've not had preview on whatsoever so i'm out of ideas.
I've attached an image
