Possible to run sesinetd as a regular process April 13, 2007, 11:37 p.m.

As a follow-up to my old thread [sidefx.com], is it possible to run sesinetd as a regular process, rather than as a service? Bear in mind that this must be accomplished without an administrator account.

Thanks for any advice that you have to offer.

poly help April 13, 2007, 11:15 p.m.

I think that the purpose of the above link was to inform about the real basics of polygon editing. It explained a bit about what polygons are made of, and the vocabulary that is used to describe them. The terminology is pretty much identical across most 3D Suites.

Since this doesn't seem to be what you're looking for, could you be a little more specific about what you're after? Poly modelling is a pretty big topic. Are you just after some introductory tutorials covering Houdini's polygon workflow and operators? Perhaps something more esoteric (and complex), such as how to procedurally model a snowflake from a hexagon?

Apprentice installation as non-administrator? April 4, 2007, 3:32 a.m.

The thought occurs that I have sesinetd running on various linux boxes around the home. Would it be feasable to just use SSH Port Forwarding to make use of the already-existing server, or would Apprentice have problems with this setup? I know for a fact that I'd be the only person using the licenses, so contention won't be a problem, but will Apprentice complain if the server is not on the same box as the client?

Thanks.
