Okay, I found the issue.
Couple of things:
1. dont graph this into any other location, the rbdprocedural needs to remain where its set and expecting things to be, dont change that later on in the graph
2. set the points location to "file cache" and point to it directly

I'm using the rbd procedural which is working perfectly in the scene, following the guide here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixJvo0iShiM [www.youtube.com] (skip to the end to see exactly how I have this setup in our production scene).
Everything works fine in the scene itself but submitting to the farm causes the rbd to disappear. Same happens when you write this out to a USD and sublayer it back in.
Am I missing something in how this should be setup to render outside of the scene itself?

Ah yes, i was fiddling indeed! I changed to 16 bit precision on everything but the displacement but I've put it back to 32 bit now. I'll see if that helps once I get past the next issue.
I've just set things up in a fresh scene, new nodes sopimport/baketexture nodes and getting the same issue as before, things are fine at 4k but break at 8k. Written out to disk and viewed in nuke*

The sopimport contains an alembic > convert to poly > transforms > output
Anything I may be missing here?
