I like to hope that theres something cool in the works for pyro/rbd/flip. Maybe not all of them, but hopefully one of them.
As an FX guy, I am definitely biased in the fact that I don't appreciate much of the new content that comes out as much as I should, but it seems SideFX is looking to attract as many new users as possible. The great "SOPification" of the solvers is another example of this.
All this being said, we still have access to tried and trusted tools that we know will work. Its not like we're being left in the past, it just takes longer to implement these things in a functional way in Houdini. Its hard to deprecate old systems and replace them with new ones without making a whole ton of people mad.

Help storing the activation frame of a piece in an RBD sim May 26, 2026, 1:52 a.m.
Hi there, I'm looking to see if anyone has an elegant solution for storing the activation frame over pieces in an RBD sim. For example, piece40 has an @activation_frame = 1049. Let me know if you have any ideas!
