Snow Leopard and Houdini good to go? Nov. 25, 2009, 12:55 p.m.

Thanks so much for the reply twod!! Somehow I should have been more specific and explained that I am on a MacBook Pro late 2009 series. I would have loved to hear your take on the Nvidia 9400M/9600GT for MacBook Pros. Surely, in your line of work you guys must strictly work on the Mac Pro's instead of the Mac Book Pro. But, the reason I pulled the trigger on Mac's flagship laptop is because it was important that I am mobile. Have you worked on Mac Book Pros, and if so, what is your take on them? I need to know so that I can make my next purchase. And, again as you may already know, there were no options to opt for a better graphics card on Mac's so called flagship laptop. Again, thanks for the reply. And, it only felt like this took a long time to fix because a lot of us just want to work.. I've been following Houdini since version 4 and it is one amazing piece of software and it is worth the wait. I just wish Apple and Nvidia would stop with all the politics and just build awesome machines.

Best Regards,

Just out of curiosity, are you guys at liberty to discuss what was causing the Nvidia/Mac Book Pro flickering issue? The reason I'm asking is because Macs are pretty stable in terms of architecture, however, I was pretty disappointed that when configuring my custom late 2009 machine to pretty much run Houdini, there were no options to choose a better graphics card, and albeit from a different manufacturer, i.e ATI. I know there are many people that are partial to Nvidia, but I would love to know if this was resolved by simply utilizing less memory from the actual graphics card, or was it simply a software issue.

Best Regards,

P.S. Thank you SESI for the quick resolution in this.

I resolved this by simply going to the folder and adding Adminstrator and everyone Read and Write access to the file. Afterwards, all was smooth sailing!!
