Ptex workflow (Mudbox-Houdini) Nov. 21, 2011, 5:12 p.m.

it looks like you were generating your initial mesh in mudbox and then importing that into houdini and setting up ptex textures, I was curious if you ran across the problem of the obj export out of houdini crashing at all?
I am using mari 1.3v2 and after modelling in houdini as a subd mesh then exporting an obj, mari crashes everytime. I logged a bug with the foundry about it but it looks like it could possibly be a problem on the houdini end and how it orders the vertices when exporting the obj?

I end up having to open the mesh in another 3d package and re-exporting to obj and it works fine.

delete edges leaves points behind!? Nov. 9, 2011, 5:12 p.m.

im trying to delete edges by first selecting the edge then pressing delete which adds a dissolve sop but it leaves all the points behind for that edge which i have to manually go through and fuse each point? is there something i'm missing here that can just delete the points along that edge that aren't needed anymore??

Is there a toggle on/off for the frame and home keys e.g shift+F as when i put my cursor over the 3d viewport the shortcut doesn't work, although they work when i go to the menu and directly select ‘frame selected’ …
but the shortcut keys work in the node view but not in the 3d viewport.
