Dual Intel Xeon 2698 v4 June 4, 2016, 5:10 a.m.
Hello,
Will somebody be kind enough to answer me whether Houdini will “see” all 40 cores (80 threads) of dual Intel Xeon 2698 v4 ES configuration?
Let me elaborate on the matter - Houdini 14, for example, can see up to 64 threads without clustering CPUs into groups. Above 64 threads, it'd divide 2 CPUs into two groups and utilizing only one - translated to the case of DUAL Intel Xeon 2698 v4 configuration, Houdini 14 sees “only” 40 threads (one group = one CPU), rendering the other CPU useless.
So, pretty please somebody with the knowledge of this specific matter to answer how Houdini 15.x (Pyro, Flip, Bullet solvers, Mantra in Houdini) will utilize this particular setup - I'm considering buying this configuration and I need this info.
Best,
Nesha
