SYmek,

Perfect, that worked as easily as I expected it should've

Thanks very much! Any clues as to why I might be downloading a duff version?

in answer to your questions.

1) The file is only 4k in size

2) No the file didn't download as a ZIP file, it downloaded as a straight file with a Houdini icon

3) I opened the file in the most basic of Mac Text editors and it showed a file in what appears to have been written in Klingon, here's a sample..

Hi, thanks for your response, in answer to your questions..

The otl file was downloaded from the sidefx site here…
http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=148 [sidefx.com]

So I presumed it was legit and would contain the necessary content.
As regards to access to the file - Yes I have access to it as it's on my desktop, I've also tried moving it to different locations to see if that helped such as the designated OTL folder in Prefs

As to the Terminal solution which you're suggesting then I'm a bit out of my depth as to what to do…I've tried Copy and Pasting your line command into the Houdini Shell Terminal (is this right?) with the file name in but it came back with a message…

-bash: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'

And I have no idea what this means - sorry I'm not very techy when it goes beyond a UIs
:?

Any other suggestions please?
