MODELING 3D CHARACTERS | BUILDING A BASE MESH FOR A CHARACTER IN HOUDINI 16

In this video tutorial, we will go over the process of blocking in a character with 3D primitives and then we fuse them together to create a base mesh.

We start by creating and placing basic primitives like spheres, tubes, and boxes to represent the different body parts of a character. Then we delete any areas where there is a surface we would like to connect together. After that, we bridge the gaps between the geometry so that we can make it one solid shape. Finally, we go in and edit the mesh by extruding in a few sections, and pushing and pulling points on the mesh until we are happy with our base mesh.

Well that is not the point of the tutorial.
Thing is to teach people how to use Houdini in order to model.
Many dont know how to model.
And base mesh will never be beauty.

in 3.39min of video how do you copy and transform the chest node?

I used Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to create the other copy of the chest node.

Thank you Alejandro for your tutorials, I don't think I have ever seen a character modeling tutorial for Houdini since the program was created, its been a long time coming. I appreciate what you are doing! keep it up!

You're welcome! I am glad you find the tutorials helpful. I really think Houdini is so much more robust than people make it seem.

Why can you not just grab the elements and scale and place them in the viewport?

    Thank you Alejandro !!
