This video will explore how to create geometry using curves. We'll create a NURBS profile curve in the orthographic view and then use the Revolve Shelf tool to make a wine glass. Then we will output the geometry initially as a NURBS surface and then convert to polys. Afterwards, we'll look at using the Crease SOP to harden some edges and then see how to apply subdivision on the geometry at render time.

It doesn't seem to work. I press X and the icon on the left gets an orange Background which I assume means it is actually selected. But when I click on the point or try to drag the point by moving the red handle, it simply doesn't snap...

I can't get the snap to work either. But I'll probably just look it up else where.
This tutorial is just too fast. I've all ready repeated sections of the tutorial several times to try and understand what is going on.
Selecting edge loops is another gray area. When I crease and change to subdivision surface more geometry is added to the entire object.
Whilst I appreciate that one needs to stick with it and experiment, as a quick starter video it could be improved to assist newbies.
I'm sure I will get there, however I am sure that many newbies all ready gave up on this particular tutorial as it is just too demonstrative.
A highly qualified Houdini user demonstrating methods of using the interface, rather than someone guiding a newbie through stages of how to use the software.

I felt dumb spending 10 minutes rewatching a tutorial in 5 second increments and analyzing what changed in the UI frame to frame. But i finally got my wine glass to work! I'm brand new to Houdini, but used Maya for 5 years. It would be helpful to have someone slowly explain this process in a new video.

Hi, I'm completely new to Houdini. I just installed the software on my Linux PC. It works fine!
I went to the tutorial section to begin my introduction but found that the video of the "REVOLVE A CURVE" was posted on Nov. 19, 2012.
Correct me if I am wrong, but the application interface does not fully correspond to the application I installed which is kind of difficult to follow even though it looks very simple.
Please help me to get through this step as I can only afford to learn by myself.
    Thanks for your support.

The only issue I seemed to have with this tutorial was for some reason the spacebar would not change perspective. Just needed to do it manually.

Ah, nvm Spacebar and 3 :)

The thing I struggled with is how do I add new points to the curve after I create the initial shape?
