In this tutorial I cover creating some procedural bolts of lightning in Houdini - making them animate - and making them connect to a surface.



Part Two // Flickers and Controller

Anyway this one's about creating a controller to make the bolts flicker on and off over time, all procedural!Next time I will be making a Lightning Solver to make the bolts animate over their lifetime, to create some even more interesting/realistic animation.

    Hi, I don't know what are you doing in part 1 (from 2:10 to 2:15)
    Which key are you tapping to display parameters tab and add the sphere to the container?

    Do you know of anyways to make the lightning glow at all? I'm a newbie so steps would be a appreciated.

      That's something you should do when compositing.

    How can I change the size of the lightning bolt? As in the polygon created by the add node. is too thick unlike the tutorials have shown.
