Houdini 20.0 Nodes Geometry nodes

Point Weld geometry node

Merges points interactively.

On this page
Since 18.0

Interactively snaps groups of points to another target point, and merges them.

Unlike most Houdini operators, Point Weld is cumulative. You can perform multiple weld operations in a single Point Weld node. A Point weld node stores the final result of all the welds you perform in that node.

The parameters affect the most recent weld, and each time you perform a new weld the previous weld’s parameters are no longer visible.

Tasks

To...Do this

Snap one point to another

  1. Start a mouse drag on the point you want to weld.

  2. Press the Collapse Selected Points hotkey or select it in the RMB menu to weld the selected points to their average position

Undo all welds

Parameters

Points To Weld

The set of points you want to move.

Target Point

The point to weld to. You must set no more than one point in this group. However, you can make a target point selection in the viewport and the Point Weld state will pick the first point in the selection. If this group is empty, then the Points To Weld will be welded to their average position.

Midpoint

Move the welded point to halfway between the average position of the Points To Weld and the Target Point.

Reset All Welds

Restores geometry to initial state.
