SideFX is excited to announce the gold release of the Houdini Apple Silicon build to coincide with the H19.5.534 production build. The Houdini Apple Silicon build is built natively for macOS arm64 so Mac users can take full advantage of the power of Apple silicon M1 and M2 chips.

The Apple Silicon build will now have regular daily builds and production builds moving forward and will no longer be designated as a tech preview. Houdini for macOS on Intel computers continues to be supported. The forum for Apple Silicon beta will be closed and all inquiries can go to other Houdini forums.

Houdini screen grabs can be found in this recent Apple video introducing the new MacBook Pro and Mac mini:

guys, it's definitely gold! I've been using the "Alpha Preview" for this whole time, and it's simply mind-blowing on M1 Max, really comparable and sometimes much faster than 16-core Intel desktop!

I tested Karma XPU on the new Silicon build and Karma still isn't utilising both CPU AND GPU? Is this being worked on?

Any chance of getting an iOS build? I’d love to to sketch out some ideas on the go on my M1 powered iPad
