SideFX Explores NVIDIA Omniverse Libraries for Houdini

At SIGGRAPH 2026, NVIDIA announced new Omniverse libraries that give developers and AI agents tools for preparing 3D content for simulation, robotics and industrial AI. SideFX is exploring how these libraries can work alongside Houdini’s procedural tools and OpenUSD workflows.

Using NVIDIA’s ovrtx and ovphysx libraries, agents could help technical artists review procedural content, test physical behavior and prepare assets for simulation – all within workflows where artists remain in control. ovrtx provides RTX-based simulation for cameras, lidar, radar and other sensors, while ovphysx adds GPU-accelerated physics properties such as collisions, mass, friction and motion.

NVIDIA’s CAD-to-SimReady skills also help turn CAD data into structured OpenUSD assets ready for virtual testing. For Houdini artists, the opportunity is to combine these capabilities with procedural systems that can generate complex, controllable environments and many purposeful variations. Agent-ready tools could assist with repetitive inspection and validation tasks while artists define the rules, parameters and creative direction.

The first Omniverse libraries for RTX sensor simulation, GPU-accelerated physics and simulation-ready asset validation are openly available from NVIDIA on GitHub.
