Hi forum,

I just wonder if it's possible to render native rib files with Mantra? Or it is just
the case that Mantra uses the REYES algorithm, but doesn't use the rib file
structure? Is there a work-around?
I'm just curious

It's not possible in other way than importing it into Houdini and render as native geometry*. Unfortunately while Houdini is good at exporting rib files, it doesn't come with importer out of the box. There used to be a plugin for that, but I'm not sure if it's still available:

hth,
skk.

* - while mantra micro polygon mode roughly follows reyes architecture, it's not Renderman compliant, thus no direct rib support.
