i tried to folow the tutorial but i cant get the same results. i got my emiter “right” i think, it looks similar to the tutorial. but when i run the simulation my pyro cloud looks low density(thin/transparent) clouds comparing to the high density smoke from tutorial. i dwelved into every parameter from tutorial and still got nothing. How i crank up the density of my pyrocloud from volcano? is it in the emiter or the pyro/pyrosolver? thanks for the help

You mean when you're rendering the volume ? Or in the viewport ? Sometimes it's just because of the background, when you're making pyro sim it's better to set your background color to “black” (press “d” in the viewport, “Background” tab). Or it may be in the Guide section of the pyro object.

Can you share the file ?

all i did was create a source, change in volcano, put lights, and the SDF from minimum distance/empty interior, and the noise sharpening to 0.95. what i missed^? the results are no where near from the video/files, they are way more mushrromned than mines.

thanks for the help

Oh okay. I can't try your scene right now. But try to set the viewport lighting to “High Quality Lighting”, add a light. Or maybe it's in the guide tab of your pyro object… Is it Houdini 12 that he is using for the tutorial ?

Figured I'd chime in on this one since I am currently struggling with the tutorial as well. Thre seems to be a few differences between 12 and 12.5 that makes this tutorial tricky, but the things I did that made my sim look similar to what he gets from the get go were these:

Set the Source to not use empty interior. (He does this later, but his somke doesn't change that much from it for some reason.)
Then I pulled down the Distrubance in the pyrosolver to 2.5 (Mine was at 30 as a default for this preset!)
Decreased the division size just a bit.
Then, I made sure I checked all my changes at object level so I got my light sources. He seems to get a nicely lit sim even when in the Autodop network. (Perhaps this is a setting?)

Well, I'm about half way through, quite frustrated and just wanted to type this down before I forgot it, in case someone else has the same problem.
