Dear All,

I hope im not placing my question about this basic theme in the wrong place.

I am trying to simulate an object animated by our animation department in maya, they have cached the animation out to alembic ( I know that simulating the trajectory of the object would probably be better, but the request was to use a premade animation ).

I am trying to use that animation to destroy a fractured object.

So far I have tried to use a magnet force to hold a fake collision object in the place of the animated one, did not succeed with that, than I tried to use a pin constrain, but with that it did not collide at all.

If you have any idea, please post your help,

regards,
Kornel

The simplest approach for something like this would be to use a Static Object DOP with “Use Deforming Geometry” enabled.

I'm not sure why this isn't working for the RBD solver, but it does work with the Bullet solver. I've also turned off deforming geometry for the fractured object, since it isn't necessary for those objects and causes the Bullet solver to recompute the collision shapes on each frame.
