HOUDINI LIGHTING QUESTION

Please i would like to know if anyone understands why i have a light flickering issue in houdini. i put a distant light and area light on an object and lit the geometry, but whenever i render this geometry and its light, i see the distant light flickering on the geometry. Does anyone know if this is a headlight issue or something with the way i lit the scene?

(please note that i am doing a sequence render and not a single frame render so the flicker is occuring on a number of frames)

can you post a very simple example file so we can see the setting you're using?

i would like to know where i can submit a hip file to you. i find it very difficult loading a hip file on houdini forums because i cannot find any link or upload button here. or if you have an email, post a reply on houdini forums to me and i will send you a hipfile in private if that works for you. hope to hear from you soon.

when you reply there is a section at the bottom called “Add Attachment”
Browse for the file
then click “Add Attachment”
then click Submit

here is my hip file on my light scene. there is a render node in my scene, but you do not have to use it. A local render is better so you can see the flickering of the light. hope to hear from you soon.

this file has an hda that isn't included…and no geometry to render

I'd suggest making a new file, striped down to it's simplest requirements and do some test renders…
