only in render view
you will get used to it, missing it too.

It's there (memory toolbar) just turn it on. Go the the first little yellow rectangle in right top corner of the 3d view (switcher for the view type) and turn it on.

You can save camera view (position) and also screenshot (snapshot) independently.

Too bad for the render region, perhaps it should be a feature request?

Snapshot works for render region too.

Noone in the office know about it. Its not easy to use, though
It took me several minutes and help file to realize how it works.
