Just installed Houdini on my iMac 5k and was a bit annoyed to see that the app doesn't support retina out of box. Is there a known workaround for this?

It's not very usable in it's current state.

Try two things:

set the env var HOUDINI_ENABLE_RETINA = 1

In Houdini preferences set Global UI Size to HiGH DPI.

Backing scale factor is a useful way to runtime detect this information:

https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Cocoa/Reference/ApplicationKit/Classes/NSWindow_Class/#//apple_ref/occ/instp/NSWindow/backingScaleFactor [developer.apple.com]

self.window.backingScaleFactor == 2 means retina.

If you want to post bugs and feature enhancements than use the Support menu above ‘Report a Bug/Rfe’. That logs a ticket with the support, which is excellent.

BTW you'll find that simple searches of Apple docs is theme of some newbies to Houdini, to which the Devs here a fully capable of doing too.

Well, if you say so. There are many other ways to accomplishing this task, but after looking at a few different ways of doing it this looked to be the preferred way. I don't feel bad sharing some of that knowledge given I've been doing MacOS develop for some time now.
