Hello there! I have been trying to get Quixel Colors to work in Houdini. I am able to assign different Material ID to my Model, but when I click on my NULL node and press “Render” in the Quixel plugin, I get the following error message:

raise hou.OperationFailed(“Invalid parameter name: ” + parm_name)
hou.OperationFailed: The attempted operation failed.
Invalid parameter name: vm_renderengine

I am fairly new to Houdini and really to 3D modelling in general, so I'm not quite sure how to tackle this error. Thank you in advance for any help!

I'm sure someone may help as I'm unfamiliar with the Quixel Suite but I do own nDo. I'd recommend coming to basics with 3D modelling if you're new to the field as you claim.

I would say that I have the basics of modelling down, just the texturing department that I seem to be lacking in (partly also due to a lack of good documentation on UV manipulation in Houdini)

Okay to answer my own question: The problem had to do with the Quixel Colors execution script. As Christopher mentioned, the tool was not compatible with 15.5 due to a change in the renderer. The tool will make a “baketexture” and all you have to do is go in manually and “render current frame” it using the “baketexture” node in your “out” view.

Hi Borzi,

I can't get this to work in my H v15.5, I get a ‘object/output’ path error.

I do get a proper _qxl_IDs material node, a SHOP library and a baketexture node. But rendering like you suggest doesn't work.

cheers!
