Hello, I was hoping someone might point out what I might be missing?
Started working with a tutorial and my first step towards getting the type of flame I want was to change the color.
For the pyro flame the default is the ramped color from black to yellows to white.
In the ‘flames’ material shader of the Shop net I changed all the yellows to blue.
But this didn't get reflected in the scene view, as it keeps showing the original yellows.
I reset animation to begining and reset simulation. I've also tried creating a new scene tab view and also close and re-open the file.
The last thought I had was to see what it looks like in render view, and there it does show it as blue as expected.
But just can't get it to show as blue in the scene view.
Thoughts? - thanks

Yeah, you'll never get that out of Houdini. The viewport shows you the network result, not the render result. Just leave your Render View on auto-update and tweak your shader to dial in the color.
Have you noticed that when you dive inside the pyro_import that there are two nodes, one for rendering and one for the viewport? That is where the separation occurs. The viewport node is linked to the Visualization portion of the pyro sim. For instance if you wanted to view the heat as blue just turn off Multi Field on the pyro node, turn on heat and set the color of heat to blue.

Thanks for that info Enivob, and the indirect reminder of using the options of the Visualization tab.
Been squeeking around with adjusting different parameters to get what I want, but I think I should have been using ‘visualization’ much more for ‘scene’ work. Definitely get better feedback or rather sense of what different paramters are and are not doing.

At first I thought the pyro visualization controls was just for the viewport. But you can also use those controls to remap ranges to increase density for example and other fields. However, you must enable the Remap check box for this to occur. If you just crank up the Smoke Density slider, you will only increase the density in the viewport and not the actual field itself. I always leave the Smoke Density for any given field set to 1 and use the remap options to actually change my data in the field. The values work in reverse. To increase the density twice as much you would remap smoke density from 0-1 to 0-0.5. The smaller the max number, the more of increase in the field.
If you just increase the Smoke Density from 1 to 2 you will see an increase in the viewport but when it comes render or export time, the actual value will still be 1. As an end user, this is kind of a disconnect for me and I really only figured this out a little while ago by experimenting.

wow..thanks for that tidbit of info…don't know how long it would be before I discovered that, ref: Remap.
I agree on “How To Use The Visualization” idea, or at least another ‘new’ one. I was just looking at a tut recently that does go over using the visualization of the different fields. But it didn't cover the Remap as far as I remember.
Interesting that in that visualization tab all the different fields in their own tab (except Velocity and Multi) have a “Remap Smoke” checkbox.
Maybe it should be called “Remap for Render”? or something like that
