Hello everyone,

I desperately need your help, i know that this topic has probably been covered in other posts, but nothing of that did help me so far, or maybe I am doing something wrong?
Anyway, here is my problem, i have downloaded Houdini apprentice, latest version, and while installation works fine, when I open Houdini, I get the interface with no icons. everything is blacked out, and the viewport is greyed out. The funny thing is that I can select blindly the drop-down menus (eg File etc.) and the drop-down window shows normally. When I close it, again black.

Also i can create , blindly again, a cube for example, by choosing the relevant button, but the viewport is greyed out. If i click in the viewport a few times, i am able to see it normally, but only for a glimpse, if i click elsewhere again the greyed out window returns. I have tried already erasing the svg icon cash file, and also the houdini 15.5 folder. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Houdini apprentice, but no luck. I also have installed the latest intel HD graphics driver.
I think that maybe my laptop is not strong enough to handle Houdini, though i have other software (Maya, Nuke) that run fine). I would be grateful for any help.

Below are my laptop's harware details, and two print screens with the problem

Processor: Intel Celeron N2840 AT 2.17GHz
VGA: Intel (R) HD graphics with 2GB RAM (driver version: 10.18.10.4425
4GB RAM
240GB SSD drive
Windows 10 Home, 64bit

Thanks in advance for any information.

Cheers!!
Nikos

Looks like a video driver/hardware type of problem to me. Check to see if your video hardware is supported https://www.sidefx.com/Support/system-requirements/supported-graphics-cards/ [sidefx.com]

Edward,

How silly of me not to check the supporting page of video hardware. I now know that this is the problem, because i have a simple Intel (R) HD graphics card, not the 2500 series which is the minimum. I did not pay attention to that cause i thought that since i have 2GB vram, it would be ok, but as it seems no.

Also I truly believe that this is the issue, cause I tried installing Houdini on my old pc, where i have a GTX 560 Ti (only one model behind, oh the irony! ) .
So i guess learning Houdini will have to wait till i get a new gpu, or a new computer which I intend to in further time.

Thank you again for your help and time. All the best!!
Cheers!
