Hi, sry for the silly newby question, but haven´t found anything on the net so far ….

Houdini, when I´m working with a DOP, always starts cooking / calculating from frame 1 to the current frame I´m at.
But I want Houdini to just calculate the one frame I´m at and not the whole frame range to current frame …
Is there any configuration option I did oversaw ?

Thanx for any helpful replies ….

Yours Christoph

I don't know if my reply will be too helpful, but I'll give it a try.

The result of a simulation at some frame depends on the result of the previous frame, which depends on the result of its previous frame, etc, which is why it cooks from frame 1, (or whichever frame is set as the initial frame). If you'd like it to not cook at all, you can change the cook mode from Auto-Update to Manual using the drop-down in the bottom-right of the window.

You can also control the Start Frame and Offset Time on the DOP Network node, if that's more what you're looking for. I haven't tried, but I'd guess that if you set Start Frame to $FF, it would just cook the current frame, but then it won't be much of a simulation at all.

Am I completely misunderstanding what you're asking?

The Timeless option is supposed to do what you are asking, i.e. to remove divergence from a vel field. To remove time dependency you have to use a TimeShift after and set it to a fixed frame like 1.

Normally Timeless should take care of the time dependency.

For licensing, I'd recommend first checking if there's anything helpful in one of the licensing FAQs [www.sidefx.com], then if you still have an issue, contacting support. Best of luck!

Thanks for the reply….
After reinstalling and checking all network topics and rebooting of course … the way it worked was, after License Administrator didn't validate my account information as existing, but showing the licenses in the viewer as valid (?),… I got online under my account an additional manual license generated and pasted it as manual license in License Administrator …. Now Houdini is starting and validating as normal …..

If anyone faces same issues …. hope this helps out…..

Thx Christoph
