Hey Houdini community,

I'm new to houdini and started out on windows. I recently transfered to Ubuntu 16.04 gnome because people told me to do that for better performance and working with large wave tanks. I'm having issues seeing my textures on imported models from fbx files. I can't see any textures on any models at all either in the viewer or render view. I tested the models on windows dual boot and I can see them perfect in the render view so it's not the models the problem.

I updated my nvidia graphics driver to the 396.18 binary and I just installed the gcc 6.3 and still can't see the textures. I've been struggling with this for 2 or 3 weeks now and it's really draining and depressing.

Can anyone please help me out with any advice ?

Much appreciation in advanced

Usually, the problem is because the geometry has vertex color that is black, which paints over the texture color. You can try deleting any attribute called ‘Cd’ on the imported geometry, and see if it helps.

Personally, I find the fbx shader created on import to be useless. I always have to rebuild the materials from scratch to get any sort of quality.

I find that FBX imports don't find textures. Try dropping a UV Quickshade at the end of the geo node inside the subnetwork. Point the quickshade texture to the actual image map for the FBX.
