Hey guys,

so this is my first post and i'm also pretty new to houdini, so please excuse my ignorance :x
I am attempting to do something that is basically super simple, but i'm not sure whats the right approach in Houdini to achieve it.
I have an animation (part of a hand dissolving) that i want to reverse loop, meaning i want to play forward 7 frames, then 7 frames backwards and then both together looping. I have a timewarp node for the reversing and i read up about the for each loops, but they confuse me a lot to be honest and i'm sure there is an easier way to “merge” those two animations - i'm just not sure which node is the right one for it.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks!

If I understand your goal correctly, one simple way of achieving it would be to change the extrapolation properties of the channel driving your animation, as shown in the attached screenshot. To do this, RMB on the driving channel > Channels and Keyframes > Edit Channel Properties…, and then set the “After” extrapolation to “Oscillate”. You can see the extrapolation as a dotted curve on the Animation Editor.

There are other ways – you can have a look at this section [www.sidefx.com] of the documentation if interested.
