Vellum CPU vs GPU sim difference

I have verified that I get different sim results, simming on a computer with a graphics card, versus simming on one without a graphics card. Is this SideFX intention, because it makes using Houdini Engine to sim on a farm extremely unpredictable. I now need to figure out if I can disable GPU acceleration, and see if that allows me to get the same exact results. Has anyone else experienced this?

In a previous thread, a developer stated some differences are to be expected due to opencl floating point error differences, but that the general behavior should not be different.

You can force CPU all the time with an environment variable: HOUDINI_OCL_DEVICETYPE, or with a houdini preference if exact parity is required.

It would be still worth logging this as a bug as, for example, Foundry put a lot of effort into making GPU and CPU computes exactly the same for Nuke. It can be done, at some level, and SideFx should tend that way.
